Hi Ben!
We choose the image of the day in different ways – it can be a recently uploaded image we notice, a personal favorite image or photographer, or we do a search based on a theme/idea. Photographers who comments in the blog and forum do get their portfolio exposed to us at YAY, increasing the probability of getting an “image of the day”-post.
So by uploading great photos and being active on our site you’ll increase your chances, but there are no guarantees.
