The poisonous Lionfish (also called Dragonfish, Scorpion Fish and Fire Fish), beautifully photographed by moori. Check out his portfolio for great inspiration on how to take stock images that still have an artistic feel. Personally I had a close encounter with one of these fascinating fishes in the Gulf of Aqaba a few months ago. The way they gracefully move through the water, without even paying attention to my presence, was quite an experience. They are one of the most venomous (but not deadly) fish in the ocean, though they use their poison only for defensive means.

One of our newest photographers, photo_guru, has been busy uploading. This is a perfect shot of delicious honey:

The site has been updated today and I’m happy to say that the flash upload has finally been updated to work with Flash 10. Most other changes are “under the hood” and not visible.

Watching Tour de France I was inspired to find a cool “bike-image” today. Here is a nice one from xcfoto.

Hi all

Short note here to let you know that I’m just back from my sommer vacation. Those of you who is following me on twitter might have noticed that I’ve spent the last month in Thailand and Cambodia. It’s been great, but now I’m looking forward to picking up where I left of. First on the agenda is fixing the web-upload (seems that the flash-plugin we are using is outdated and doesn’t support the newest version of flash). Hope you all are having a great sommer wherever you are, and I hope to see alot of great pictures coming in from your travels
Regards,
Bjorn
Just a quick note to everybody. We have worked on the search function lately, and I think you will see that the quality of the images that appear on the first pages are much better than they used to be
We are still working on a couple of things (one is trying to avoid series of similar pictures), but we are happy with the changes we have made so far.
For those who are interested we are using the excellent Solr search engine which is an open source project based on the Lucene Java serach library. It works very well, and we embrace the open-source community here at yaymicro.
